Wreaths Across America, Fort Mitchell National Cemetery

Good morning everyone,

We are pleased to announce that Mr. James Fogal has stepped up and will be taking over the Wreaths Across America event at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery this year. James has been involved with WAA here for many years through both the Auburn Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol and Boy Scouts, so we are fortunate to have someone who knows the program and understands its meaning and value. Please welcome James as the new Location Coordinator, and provide him all the support you can moving forward. Additional information will be forthcoming on fundraising groups, timelines and requests for assistance.

Below is James's bio:

Chaplain (Maj) James W. Fogal is Chief of Development for the Civil Air Patrol. Nationally, he oversees the fundraising program, donor relations program and a new alumni program for CAP. He has worked full-time in a fundraising (i.e., development) and advancement role for 22 years. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) as well as a graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary.

In CAP in addition to his national role listed above, he is the Critical Incident Stress Officer (CISO) for the ALWG, and is a chaplain, health services officer (currently licensed paramedic), and professional development officer for the Auburn Composite Squadron. He is currently rated as a Mission Chaplain (MC) and has served as lead medical and lead instructor for the new Wilderness Advanced First Aid school at the Alabama Wing Emergency Services School for several years.

Professionally, James has been a financial planner since 2003. He operates an independent financial planning practice in Auburn, AL and does gift planning work with the American Bible Society. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional, a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), a Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®) and an Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA). For five years, he was a Senior Tax Advisor with H&R Block providing estate, gift and income tax advice to high net-worth clients. James founded the CFP education program at Columbus State University – obtaining accreditation approval for such program from the CFP Board of Standards – and served as part-time program director for several years.

James has a B.A. degree from Asbury University, a M.A. in philanthropic studies from Indiana University, and a M.A. in theological studies (historical theology) and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in military chaplaincy from the School of Divinity at Liberty University. He is currently a Ph.D. student at Auburn University studying Career and Technical Education, and is pursuing a fellowship with the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

In addition to his volunteer duties with CAP, he is a chaplain and assistant scoutmaster with a local Boy Scout troop. He leads merit badge classes for scouts and serves as lead medical for the regional National Youth Leadership Training program. James is Wood Badge trained with Boy Scouts of America.

Wreaths Across America, Fort Mitchell National Cemetery

Hi everyone! This is Chris Tate. I wanted to post this tonight in hopes of getting some traction. As you know, last year's ceremony was my last to coordinate. My family has relocated to the Birmingham area, and it's just too far a distance to manage this great event. We are in need of someone or some group to stand up and take the lead on this project. There's a lot to do, and it does take commitment, but the return on investment can't be fully expressed in words.
If you are willing to consider this important job, please send me a message or email me at FortMitchellWreaths@gmail.com. I'm willing to help you get up and running, but I can't proceed to starting the process, as it needs to be the next coordinator doing the "paperwork."
Please consider it, think about it, pray about it, and if you feel led to take it on, let me know.
